Matt Taylor on Mescalito
1979. Matt Taylor asleep in his single-point hammock during a ten-day ascent of the classic big-wall route Mescalito (then A4) on El Capitan in Yosemite Valley. No Porter-ledges then, just a thin nylon cocoon which threatened to suffocate you during the night. The 'spreader bar' was used to push apart the sides of the hammock to give you a bit more breathing room.
